Carolyn does double duty as both the leader of our client services team and as Office Manager. As the coordinator of our Adoption Program, Carolyn ensures that all of our adoptive pets receive the preventive health care they need and also reviews applications to ensure good matches between our adoptive pets and the families who would like to adopt. Carolyn also leads our Kitten Kindergarten classes.
Carolyn joined AMC in early 2006 as a receptionist. She soon proved to be a natural leader and a perfect fit for AMC and has since been promoted to leading both the client services team as well as to managing our administrative office. In everything she does, Carolyn demonstrates her commitment to animal welfare as well as to excellence in both the medical care we provide pets and to the service we provide our clients.
Carolyn came to Morgantown in the 1980s for college where she earned her bachelors in music education and met her husband, John. They later settled here in Morgantown when her husband joined the faculty at WVU, where John is now the Director of Bands. Carolyn continues to practice her musical gifts through leadership in her church music programs at Wesley United Methodist Church and through various performing opportunities throughout the year. Carolyn and John have two doted-upon dogs, 9 year old Brandy and rescued 3 year old Ginger and one darling cat, Cheddar, who was adopted through our own Adoption Program.
Like many of us, Carolyn aspired to be a veterinarian when she was young. As Carolyn matured, she pursued her musical talents and ambitions instead of veterinary medicine but her love of animals never waned. After extensive experience in the musical field, Carolyn most recently worked at the (fabulous!) local pet boutique -- Woofs. Many clients remember her from Woofs where she most enjoyed her vital job duty of "playing with the dogs!"
We are delighted that her career path has brought her back to veterinary medicine and that she has found a workplace home here at AMC. She loves that her job here combines her (extensive) office-type skills with her love for animals and people. Carolyn's warmth, intelligence, calm and passionate caring for animals make her a natural for this field.
Alyssa Everly, Receptionist
Alyssa is native of the Morgantown area. She grew up in Bruceton Mills, where she graduated from Preston High School and where she still lives. Alyssa has one cat, whom she adopted through our Adoption Program.
Alyssa is very interested in the field of veterinary medicine and she is considering pursuing a career in veterinary nursing (or perhaps becoming a veterinary technician) in the future. Alyssa loves animals and she enjoys the opportunity that AMC provides her to help animals and to be around a variety of interesting people and their pets.
Alyssa joined our staff in 2006 and rapidly became a core member of our client services team. Alyssa's gentle and helpful nature as well as her eagerness to learn have made her a great team member. She is pictured here with Amos, one of our Adoption Program sweeties.
Erin Church, (B.A. & M.A. in psychology) Receptionist & Veterinary Assistant
Erin "loves people and loves caring for animals" -- which makes her a natural fit for AMC. Erin's strong people skills and caring for animals provide her with a foundation for excellence in veterinary client services. Her background in psychology and counseling are evidenced by her compassionate and mature communication skills. (Excellent communication skills are a must for the client services team!)
Erin and her husband have two dogs, Minnie and Katie and one lovely kitty Roxy. All of their pets were adopted through local rescue programs. Katie and Roxy were both adopted through our own Adoption Program in 2006. (Not the first time a great dog has brought AMC a great staff member!)
Erin and her husband grew up in Waynesburg, PA and moved here in 2006 so that her husband could pursue his education in physical therapy at WVU.
Christian Brooks, (B.A. in psychology) Receptionist
Christian is originally from Fort Ashby, WV and moved to the Morgantown area in 2006 along with her husband, Chris so that Chris could pursue his education at WVU. Christian and Chris share their home with their two beloved dogs, Lucie (2 year old golden retriever) and Orion (1 year old flat coat retriever mix).
Chris is planning on a future in veterinary medicine and so had accepted a job here at AMC on our Nursing & Animal Care team. Christian got to know AMC through Chris and we were then fortunate enough to hire her to join our Client Services team! (We really are a family practice!)
Christian loves working with animals and is particularly interested in animal behavior and pet training. In addition to her work as a receptionist, Christian also works with both our Puppy Preschool and Kitten Kindergarten classes.
Fido, Greeter
Fido is an African Gray Parrot who resides in our reception area. Fido can be very gregarious. When he wants affection, he may go to great lengths to get it.
When clients aren't about in the reception area to entertain him, Fido often resides on his "free" perch in the back treatment area where he can hop off and visit with staff members at will. When he wants to visit with someone, he will climb on nearby equipment to get to you or just stretch his wings towards you. At times, he has been known to hop off his perch, trot across the floor and begin nuzzling at Dr. Zucker's shoe until he relents and picks him up to carry him around while he goes about his business.
Fido's vocabulary is quite large. He often mimics the telephone answering machine by answering "hello" when the phone rings. He'll then say "bye" and make a "boop" just like the machine does. He barks like a dog, screeches like an angry cat, trots like a horse, chatters, laughs, mumbles, whistles and generally mimics virtually any noise that he hears. He has such a talent for mimicry that he often startles late-working staff members who think there really is a dog barking in the "empty" back room at night!
Around the holidays, Fido loves to say "Ho, Ho, Ho, Merry Christmas!" Lately, Fido's favorite phrase has been "I love you". Since parrots learn by mimicing the people around them, you can quickly figure out that we all love Fido!
