Dr. Megan Meginley Maxwell,  Ph.D., Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist

No Description

Sadly, for AMC and for Morgantown pets, Megan will be relocating to the area of State College, PA. We will all miss her greatly and wish her well! Dr. Maxwell will be offering behavior services in State College and Lindsay Parenti will be providing behavior services here in Morgantown. Find out more information from Dr. Maxwell’s website.

Dr. Maxwell earned her Ph.D. in Psychology at WVU,with a specialization in animal learning and behavior. In addition to her academic research on how dogs learn, she has been working for over 7 years with families who have pets with behavior problems. Dr. Maxwell provides basic obedience training for owners interested in individualized instruction for their pet. She also provides behavior therapy services to owners facing a wide range of pet behavior problems, such as aggression, destruction, fearfulness, housetraining difficulties and many others. Dr. Maxwell has published research in scientific journals and also has been featured in Dog Fancy and Popular Puppies magazines. She is a talented and insightful behaviorist who provides invaluable help to our patients with behavioral issues.  In addition to having her Ph.D. degree, Dr. Maxwell is one of less than 50 Certified Applied Animal Behaviorists (CAAB's) worldwide!

Dr. Maxwell lives with her husband, Stockton, their yellow-collared mini macaw, Sappho, and their two dogs Iago (pictured with Megan) and Addie Star, who was one of Mary's Puppies and is daughter of Dr. Zucker's rescued dog, Mary and sister to his dog Sparkle.

Lindsay Parenti, (M.A. Applied Behavior Analysis) Behavior Consultant

Lindsay has recently completed her Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from WVU. Lindsay has interned under Dr. Megan Maxwell for several years, assisting in the assessment and treatment of pet behavior problems. She also has experience teaching puppy and adult obedience classes. Lindsay brings with her a strong interest in conducting research on the methods by which canines learn most efficiently. She plans to use these interests to pursue her certification as an Associate Applied Animal Behaviorist and also her board certification as a behavior analyst.

Lindsay provides behavior consultations at AMC and also leads our very special Puppy Preschool class as well as our new Next Step Young Dog Obedience classes. In these six-week courses, Lindsay provides families with the tools to teach their dogs basic obedience skills and also how to understand their pet's behavior. The goal of the courses is to leave owners with an understanding of how to raise confident, obedient, calm dogs while preventing fearfulness, aggression and other behavioral problems. We are excited to have Lindsay as part of the AMC team and look forward to working with her!

Lindsay is native to Morgantown and shares her home with her dog, Merlot and her brown tabby, Katie Jo. Lindsay credits Merlot for her passion for animals.
