Animal Behaviorists

Megan Meginley Maxwell, M.A. (PhD pending spring 2008), Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist

No DescriptionMegan is a PhD candidate studying animal behavior with Dr. Lattal at WVU, with a research interest in dog behavior. She has expertise in a wide range of companion animal behavior issues and a strong background in private behavioral consultation. Megan is a talented and insightful behaviorist and she provides invaluable help to our patients with behavioral issues. She has her Masters Degree, is almost done with her PhD and is a Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist.

Megan provides behavior consultations at AMC and works with other individuals and groups in the Morgantown area as well as in-hospital consultations with our clients and follow-up as needed. Megan also runs a very special Puppy Preschool class, Behavioral Foundations, that teaches families with puppies how dogs learn and how to use this understanding to raise confident, obedient, calm dogs and to prevent fears, aggression or other behavioral problems.

Megan's family includes her fhusband, Stockton, their yellow collared mini macaw, Sappho, lovely dog Iago (pictured with Megan) and their dog, Addie "Star", who was one of Mary's Puppies and is daughter of Dr. Zucker's rescued dog, Mary and sister to his dog Sparkle.

Andy Lattal, PhD Animal Behavior, Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist

No DescriptionDr. Lattal is a Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist who has been associated with the Animal Medical Center since 1988. He is also a professor of psychology at West Virginia University. Dr. Lattal has an international reputation as a teacher and researcher in the areas of animal learning and behavior.
 
We consider ourselves very fortunate to be able to offer his behavioral counseling to our clients with pet behavior problems.
